This healing massage was developed by a physician for a King in India over 2500 years ago. It was adopted by Buddhist monks as part of their healing practices, and spread from India into Thailand, adopting the name Thai Yoga Massage.
This form of massage is a unique and powerful healing art that has been an integral part of traditional Thai medicine for many centuries. It combines acupressure massage with breathing techniques, gentle stretches and applied yoga postures.

How does it work?
Like most eastern healing traditions, Thai Massage seeks to balance the body's energy. Our energy flows through a vast network of invisible lines known as the Sen. Thai Massage works by stimulating the flow of energy through the 10 most major of these lines, the Sip Sen. This helps to unblock stagnant and trapped energy and to encourage the body’s own life force (chi/prana) to flow freely and easily. The massage releases toxins and waste materials from the joints, muscles and connective tissue. The gentle stretches create space in the musculoskeletal structure, opening up the body and allowing it to regain flexibility and ease of movement. The internal organs and inner workings of the body are stimulated by pressure applied to specific energy points.
What does it involve?What is it good for?
Thai Massage is carried out on a padded mat on the floor. The client wears loose fitting clothes and the massage is performed through them. No oils or lotions are used. A traditional Thai Massage lasts approximately 2 hours and the therapist uses their hands, feet, forearms, elbows and knees to work the client's body in a beautiful flowing rythmn. Applied in a quiet meditative atmosphere, the client is given the opportunity to look within and focus on the healing experience.
Thai massage helps to relieve tension within the body and can be effectively used for pain relief. It improves the function of the lymph glands and blood circulation, balances the nervous system and clears out blocked and stagnant energy.
